Social commentator Frank Gashumba says there is no much different between first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and his father’s NRM on one side and Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and NUP on the other.
According to Gashumba, any NUP supporter or leader criticizing Lt Gen Kainerugaba and his friends for being extravagant by organizing the first son’s 48th birthday, is just being dishonest.
On April 23, Kainerugaba held a birthday party at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.
At the party, Lt Gen Kainerugaba, also the Commander of UPDF Land Forces, unveilled his plan for Ugandan youth. (Read Story Here).
Earlier, Muhoozi had addressed those who participated in a marathon to honor him. The first son said the country was on fire because of him. (Read Story Here).
On April 24, President Museveni held a State House dinner to honour his son Muhoozi. (See Photos from Muhoozi Dinner HERE).
It is these events that some claimed were not only a sign of extravagance but of a first son and UPDF officer keen on misusing tax payers’ money when the country is in an economic crisis.
But Gashumba says it is ironical for NUP politicians to criticize Lt Gen Kainerugaba for holding birthday party celebrations when they have been holding wedding and birthday celebrations.
Gashumba told opposition to stop deceiving their supporters that they are in the struggle because as far as he is concerned they left the struggle and are currently enjoying tax payers’ money yet some of their comrades are in prison cells.
“Those who want to make Lt Gen Muhoozi look like an extremely extravagant person are the same politicians who hold wedding ceremonies everyday. They claim to be in the struggle, but enjoy first class things; even their children go to international schools,” Gashumba told NBS Barometer.
“Their supporters are in Kitalya [and other prisons] but they keep deceiving people that they are in the struggle and are fighting for the common man. So, they are all the same, whether in NUP, DP, FDC or NRM. They are all the same.”
