Internal Affairs Minister Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire has directed officers of the Uganda Police Force (UPF) to drive to Mzee Nathan Okori’s home in Omoro District and question him instead of summoning him to Kampala over claims that his son Jacob Oulanyah was poisoned.
Oulanyah died on March 20. (Read Story Here).

Appearing before the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee of Parliament on April 14, Minister Otafiire, who supervises UPF, Otafiire was asked if police had the mandate to
“I wanted to know where the police spokesperson called Enanga derives his mandate or powers to summon the father who has just lost a son,” asked Budiope West MP Ibrahim Kyoto.
“Immediately I heard what Enanga said — which was right — I said ‘now don’t treat Mzee Okori to the indignity of summoning him to Kampala; let the police go and talk to him.
