NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has castigated President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni for threatening to arrest all Ugandans claiming that former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah was killed by poisoning.
In his remarks at an event where Anita Among and Thomas Tayebwa were elected speaker and deputy speaker, respectively, Museveni ordered police to arrest those claiming that Oulanyah was poisoned. (Read Story Here).
Now, Bobi Wine says Museveni has closed the investigation into the cause of Oulanyah’s death.
The singer-turned-politician also argues that the more government seeks to silence voices calling for probes into suspected murders, the more questions it raises.
He equally wondered if Museveni would arrest Oulanyah’s father for his comments on the death of the former Speaker.
Oulanyah’s father Nathan Okori Has been quoted as saying that his son was poisoned. (Read Story Here).
“No police officer will dare proceed to investigate. Instead, they will hunt those calling for investigations. The first person to say that Rt. Hon. Oulanyah was poisoned was his father, who quoted the late Oulanyah himself!” wrote Bobi Wine.
“In a functioning state, allegations of this nature would be investigated in a transparent manner, instead of intimidating the nation into silence. Every attempt to silence citizens on possible murders only leaves them asking what you’re trying to cover up.”
But according to information minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi, Oulanyah died of cancer. (Read Story Here).
