Perennial litigant Hassan Male Mabirizi and his colleague Isaac Ssemakadde, who recently ‘tormented’ MP Muhammad Nsereko on live TV, are going through tough times.
Mabirizi spent his first night in prison on February 21, while Ssemakadde has been summoned for reportedly insulting High Court judge Musa Ssekaana.
MABIRIZI
After about a week in hiding, Mabirizi finally ran out of luck when police arrested him as he headed to Kyambogo.
Mabirizi was convicted of contempt of court and sentenced to 18 months in jail.
He went into hiding, and sought to appeal the judgement. But he was arrested, and has spent his first night at Kitalya Prison.
SSEMAKADDE
Known as the legal rebel Atanaaba, Ssemakadde was on February 21 summoned by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Police Force over offensive communication charges relating to comments made against Justice Ssekaana.
He is expected at CID Kibuli for questioning on February 28.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is conducting inquiries into alleged offensive communication to the prejudice of Hon. Justice Ssekaana Musa,” read summons to Ssemakadde in part.
“You are required to report to CID headquarters on 28/02/2022 at 1000hrs and you will particularly report to officer in charge of cyber Crime D/SSP Kayiza Henry who will guide you on what is required.”
During their recent conference, judges said Mabirizi, Ssemakadde and other lawyers had made it a habit to engage in acts of cyber bullying against judicial officers, and should be dealt with.
In a recent dossier, Ssemakadde tore Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo’s judiciary into pieces. (Read Story Here).
