First son and commander of UPDF Land Forces (CLF) Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has sent a clear warning to the enemies of Uganda after the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) operatives arrested the leader of the Uganda Homeland Liberation Force (UHLF) rebel group.
UHLF is one of the rebel groups accused of launching attacks on UPDF detaches in northern Uganda, including in the West Nile district of Zombo.
Lt Gen Kainerugaba had blamed the Zombo attack on Co-operative for the Development of Congo (Codeco).
Now, the CLF says CMI has arrested UHLF commander Howard Openjuru after an operation that lasted months.
He has now saluted CMI and warned rebel groups and all enemies of Uganda, telling them it would dangerous for them to play with Uganda’s security.
“Ugandan intelligence has arrested the leader of the so-called Uganda Homeland Liberation Force, Openjuru Howard, inside the country. It was a carefully planned operation that took many months,” said Kainerugaba.
“CMI is proving that it is a truly excellent intelligence service. Uganda ni Hatari!”
The arrest of Openjuru followed the surrender of one member of his rebel outfit named Patrick Oryema, 60, in Nebbi District.
