Christian Restoration Ministries International lead Pastor John Bunjo has urged Uganda’s 77-year-old President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to announce his ‘anointed’ successor.
Pastor Bunjo says Museveni’s time in the country’s top seat is coming to an end.
Museveni has ruled Uganda since 1986 when he took power following a five-year bush war.
Months ago, Museveni won another five-year term, running until 2026, at the end of which he will have ruled the country for four decades.
According to Pastor Bunjo, four decades marks the end of a generation and the start of another.
He says it is high time the president thought of steering a transition from the old to the younger generation.
“[Forty years are] a sign of winding up an old generation and bringing in a new generation. We need a successor, a successor who will not take the country backwards,” said Pastor Bunjo.
The man of God further warned Museveni against accepting to be misled by the mafia who keep telling him he is popular and how he should remain in power.
