Uganda’s Covid19 deaths have surpassed the 2,000 mark since March 2020, latest data from the health ministry indicates.
Uganda recorded 17 new deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities to 2,012 as of July 05.
The number of new cases has remained in the 400 range for three consecutive days.
The ministry recently revised Uganda’s Covid19 death toll by over 700 probable fatalities.
“As communicated in Minister’s address yesterday, MoH working with the Scientific Advisory Committee has finalized a clinical diagnostic criterion for suspected COVID-19 deaths but with no PCR or AgRDT result or with a negative test result but w/a clinical picture similar to COVID19,” the ministry explained in a recent statement.
“Therefore, COVID19 deaths will be reported as PCR/AgRDT confirmed,or probable COVID-19 deaths. The harmonized death count at the time of address stood at 1,873 deaths.Of these deaths,1,127 were PCR confirmed while 746 are deaths confirmed clinically as probably due to Covid19.”
