Former vice president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has offered valuable tips to his successor Jessica Alupo on how to please President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni and keep Uganda’s second highest position for 10 years.
On June 23, Ssekandi handed over the vice president’s office to Katakwi District Woman MP who was appointed VP on June 08.
Ssekandi was vice president since 2011.
Ssekandi has advised Alupo to obey Museveni all the time and quickly apologize when she makes mistakes.
“You should try your best to do the best and if you have made a mistake, try to correct it and go and apologise and then you move forward,” the former Bukoto Central MP told Alupo after the handover.
He added that Alupo should use all her abilities to help Museveni fulfill his priorities.
“Given the nature of the office, she should help the president to fulfil his promises to the people of Uganda,” Ssekandi continued.
“Basically I want her to use her energy and knowledge to do the best for the country.”
